School of the Arts

The Lewis A. Swyer School of the Performing Arts is an extension of the National Museum of Dance, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. With a focus on providing professional-level dance instruction within a low-pressure, supportive environment, one of our top priorities is to create an enjoyable experience for our dancers and their families.

We emphasize encouragement, cooperation, and collaboration rather than criticism and competition. We also minimize recital requirements in order to concentrate on perfecting technique. We believe that participation in dance builds self-confidence, social skills, a healthy body, and a positive self-image.

The Lewis A. Swyer School of the Performing Arts welcomes a vast range of students in both age and ability, including those with professional aspirations. The School offers a robust scholarship program through which no child is ever turned away. An exceptional faculty, representing a wide breadth of performance and teaching experience, trains students in multiple styles of dance from ballet to contemporary and beyond.
