A Tribute to Lucinda Childs
2018 Hall of Fame inductee Lucinda Childs began her career at the Judson Dance Theater in 1963 and went on to form Lucinda Childs Dance Company for which she has created over fifty works. She has choreographed over thirty dances for major ballet companies around the world and has worked as a choreographer and director for sixteen opera productions. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the 2017 Venice Biennale de la Danse Golden Lion Award and the Samuel H. Scripps/American Dance Festival Lifetime Achievement Award.
A Tribute to Alfredo Corvino
2018 Hall of Fame inductee Alfredo Corvino (1916-2005) toured internationally with the Jooss Ballet and Ballet Russe de Monte Carlo, among others. He joined the Metropolitan Opera Ballet in 1948 and later became Ballet Master, where he taught for nearly twenty years. He also served as Ballet Master for Pina Bausch’s Tanztheater Wuppertal for over a decade. He was on the faculty of The Juilliard School for forty-two years and founded and directed his own school in New York City, the Dance Circle. He was the recipient of many awards, including the Juilliard Centennial Medal in 2005.
