The Museum appreciates and accepts donations to ensure dance related programs are available to all ages.
The Museum houses The Hall of Fame, the only permanent collection - The Hall of Fame was established in the Museum’s first year to illustrate the contributions of choreographers, teachers, artists, directors and others, both living and dead, who have and continue to help shape American dance, in ballet, modern, musical theatre and film. In 2007, Bill T. Jones and Bob Fosse were inducted into the Hall of Fame. In 2008 the museum will induct Peter Martins: New York City Ballet Master in Chief.
The Museum has rotating exhibits through out the year, as well as features different artists in Art in the Foyer.
The Swyer Studios
The founders agreed that dance practice sessions, rehearsals, new choreography, and performance should be a part of the Museum’s life, and thus established The Lewis A. Swyer Studio in 1989. An integral part of the museum’s connection to the dance community, the studios offers choreographers, teachers and tomorrow’s performers a venue for study and demonstration. The Swyer studios are home to the School of the Arts Program offering many styles of dance for all ages and abilities.
The studios are host to the New York State Summer School Arts programs in July and August providing intensive pre-professional training with acclaimed artists and artistic companies.
Efforts are being taken to make the Museum archival treasurers available to dance researchers and scholars.
Donation will ensure that these goals are obtained. Your donations are tax deductible.
