Dance Through Parkinsonís

Thursdays, 1:30 am - 2:30 pm
Weekly class for people living with Parkinsonís disease and their care partners. This class will explore movement through different types of rhythmic music in ways that are joyful, safe, and stimulating. Dance Through Parkinsonís has been proven to enhance strength, balance, flexibility, awareness, and confidence in its participants. Dance Through Parkinsonís will be taught by Rachelle Smith-Stallman, a Board-Certified Dance Movement Therapist and New York State Licensed Creative Arts Therapist. Flamenco Workshop
and Performance

The National Museum of Dance and School of the Arts welcomes Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana II for a dynamic flamenco workshop and performance. The open community workshop, appropriate for any age or skill level, will be held in the Museumís foyer from 5:00 to 6:15 pm and is free of charge. It will delve into the history, techniques, and musical aspects of flamenco, offering participants a truly authentic experience of this vibrant art form. A lively, interactive performance by Flamenco Vivo Carlota Santana II will take place in The Riggi Theater from 7:00 to 8:00 pm. The cost is $25 per person, $20 for members, students, and seniors. Rebels on Pointe

In anticipation of its upcoming exhibition Gender Neutral, the National Museum of Dance is thrilled to present a free screening of Rebels on Pointe in The Riggi Theater. This first-ever feature documentary celebrates the internationally-renowned Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo. The all-male, comic ballet company was founded in 1974 on the heels of New York's Stonewall riots and has a diverse cult following around the world. The Museumís newest exhibition, Gender Neutral, is set to open on Thursday, April 19. It will explore the history of non-traditional gender roles in dance from the eighteenth century to the present day with Les Ballets Trockadero de Monte Carlo as the centerpiece of the exhibition.
