Saratoga is home to the National Museum of Dance: the only museum in
the country dedicated solely to the art of dance, one of few such
museums in the world, and site of the only dance specific Hall of
Fame—the Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney Hall of Fame.
The city's rich dance history is further extended by the presence of
the Saratoga Performing Arts Center which has welcomed New York City
Ballet each summer for nearly fifty years, and Skidmore College which
has a nationally renowned dance program and welcomes world renowned
companies and artists annually.
The National Museum of Dance has chosen 24 artists of all variety
for the upcoming project: Saratoga En Pointe.
These 24 artists will decorate 5 foot tall fiberglass pointe shoe sculptures. The final
products will be displayed at select locations across the city of
Saratoga Springs in the spring of 2013. Artists have been paired with sponsors
