The National Museum of Dance strives to provide an environment that nutures and encourages
learning about the art form of dance.
The museum welcomes students from all around to learn about the art of dance, its history,
and also to partipate in our hands-on exhibit, the Alfred Z. Solomon
Children's Wing. This year we were lucky enough to receive a generous grant from the
Alfred Z. Solomon foundation, allowing us to create an updated space for children visiting
the museum. The wing provides a view into the world of dance for children of all ages through
an interactive library, stage (with costumes and props, of course), and simply a place for
them to let their imaginations run wild.
The museum is also excited to welcome field trips of students to learn about dance through
the eyes of animals in our next upcoming exhibit Tails and Terpsichore.
This exhibit will explore the differences and similarties between animal dancers and human dancers.
Check back in the spring of 2012 for more information about this exhibit.
Field trips at the NMD provide students with a unique look into subjects relating to art,
history, and dance. Of course, classroom adults are always free when coming with a field trip!
